Advising Services

Academic advising is a process that helps students map out a plan for academic success and ensure their goals are met. During advising, the student becomes eligible to register using West Texas A&M University’s online registration system, Buff Advisor, through a process called “greenlighting.”

Athletics

Buff Alert System

Buff Alert is a universal notification system that allows students, faculty and staff to be notified via text message, e-mail or pager in the event of a campus emergency or closure. It provides an innovative addition to the existing methods that the University has in place to alert the community to emergency situations.

Counseling Services

Life as a college student can be an exciting time filled with freedom, changes, and new experiences! It can be fulfilling, rewarding and sometimes challenging. For many students, these changes and demands can be overwhelming. WTAMU's Student Counseling Services understands that students may need some support during the school year to help them succeed. The Student Counseling Center is able to help students through: Personal Counseling, Career Counseling, and Crisis Intervention.

Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Office serves students and parents by providing them with information to secure the necessary financial resources to meet their educational goals and financial obligations to the University. This is accomplished by informing them of types of financial assistance available and assisting them through the process to obtain it. Students and parents may call or visit the office during office hours for any needed assistance. Appointments are encouraged, but not necessary.

Graduate School

Hastings Electronic Learning Center

The Hastings Electronic Learning Center is home to approximately 350 computers that are stationed throughout the five classrooms, an open-access computer lab, two compressed video classrooms, a compressed video conference room, instructional support areas and offices. The north and south common areas provide comfortable seating and space for individual or group study sessions. The Open Access Computer Lab (OAL) is the main area of the Hastings Electronic Learning Center. This facility is a near 24-hour general use lab for the students of WTAMU. It offers a wide variety of hardware and software applications to provide students with the resources they need to succeed at West Texas A&M University.

Information Technology Service Center (ITSC)

The Information Technology Service Center (ITSC) is a combination of Help Desk, PC Support, and Student computer lab support. All requests for service with IT related issues should originate in the ITSC. The ITSC currently supports approximately 2,500 faculty, staff, and student computer lab computers.

Office of the Registrar

The Office of the Registrar provides many services to students who are enrolling or are currently enrolled at WTAMU. The Registrar’s Office is where you will find information on adding/withdrawing classes and find the schedule of classes. Office hours are Monday through Wednesday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Thursday and Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Supplemental Instruction (SI)

Supplemental Instruction is a study program designed to improve your study techniques with the possibility of raising grades one half to one whole grade point. The program is based on the principle that students improve their mastery of a subject through interaction and discussions of difficult principles with other students.

Writing Center

The Writing Center serves as informed readers for University writers. The purpose is to provide assistance for specific challenges encountered by writers and to promote good writing across disciplines. In addition to proofreading for errors, feedback and guidance can be provided. Appointments can be made, but drop-ins are always welcome. The Writing Center also offers brief presentations about services and grammar workshops for classes, campus organizations and clubs.

If you need help in College Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Beginning Algebra, Math for the Sciences, or preparing for the math part of the general GRE, THEA or ACCUPLACER test, you have come to the right place. Note that you do not have to be a student at WTAMU to use any of these online tutorials. They were created as a free service to anyone who needs help in these areas of math.
